Getting to know you... Juan Carlos arrived in our home on 2/26/24 at three months old, weighing 6 lbs. He was placed at Los Gozosos by court order after being born prematurely, with time in the ICU with pneumonia, and then the infant ward since Christmas. He has been diagnosed with Pierre Robin Syndrome (his mandible and thorax are not fully formed, interfering with his breathing and ability to swallow). His mother (in her 40's and severely disabled), after being carefully protected by her family all these years, was brutally assaulted, resulting in this pregnancy. She is aware enough to understand her baby was taken from her, but she is not capable of caring for Juan Carlos. Her elderly parents are overwhelmed physically and financially already. Although they are completely broken-hearted, they are stepping out of the picture, and Juan Carlos will be raised in the children's home. Please pray for Juan Carlos's whole family for complete emotional healing and recovery from trauma. We also pray for full development in Juan Carlos over the next several months, which is still medically possible, but also needs a miracle.
